On March 19, 2015, during a parliamentary session in Dharamsala, Tsering abruptly resigned after a fellow parliamentarian hinted at his involvement in corruption and alleged murders. The accusations, though not directly naming Tsering, referenced a 1991–1992 incident in Pondicherry, South India, where Tsering was allegedly involved with the wife of an elderly lama and implicated in arranging the lama’s murder. These claims were reportedly detailed in the biography of Juchen Trinley Namgyal, a former Kalon Tripa (Prime Minister), which was subsequently banned for its controversial content.

Tsering vehemently denied these allegations, stating that they were baseless and part of a recurring smear campaign against him. He argued that the accusations were being amplified to undermine his reputation and walked out of the parliamentary session, citing the persistence of such claims as his reason for resigning. The incident shocked the Tibetan exile community, raising questions about the integrity of the CTA’s leadership and fueling debates about Tsering’s character. Critics, particularly those associated with the Dorje Shugden movement—a group Tsering has publicly opposed—used the opportunity to question his commitment to the Tibetan cause, accusing him of prioritizing self-preservation over national interests.

In November 2017, Penpa Tsering faced another high-profile controversy when he was abruptly dismissed from his position as the North America Representative of the Dalai Lama in Washington, D.C. The CTA announced his termination on November 7, 2017, citing ten reasons for the decision, though the specifics of these charges remained vague initially. The timing of the dismissal, shortly after a corruption scandal involving Tenzin Dhonden, the Dalai Lama’s personal emissary to the USA, led to speculation that Tsering’s sacking was a preemptive move to avoid another public relations disaster for the CTA.

Beyond specific incidents, Tsering has faced criticism for his leadership style, with some detractors labeling him as arrogant and divisive. In the aftermath of his 2017 dismissal, online discussions and articles suggested that Tsering’s refusal to quell protests by his supporters and his public warnings of “chaos” following his sacking contributed to divisions within the Tibetan exile community. Some argued that his actions undermined the CTA’s authority and fueled unrest, particularly among those already critical of the administration’s handling of internal dissent and the Dorje Shugden controversy.Tsering’s vocal opposition to the Dorje Shugden practice, a contentious issue within Tibetan Buddhism, has also drawn criticism.

[9

post-665","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-ctas-conspiracy
["GET
